The Blue Flat

It’s almost like home except I will never paint the walls blue. This side of India, this is my refuge where I can shut the rest of the noisy world outside and be comfortable in this little bubble.

Bit by bit, the flat has acquired a lived-in feel. The musty smell of an empty room has evaporated as my flatmate and I have acquired furnishings and made attempts at decorating our two-bedroom flat. We have infused aromas of various curries in numerous culinary experiments in the kitchen. I’ve recently purchased a set of second-hand computer speakers from a fellow volunteer. This house is now rocking. The sights, smell and sound are almost close to home. Two years of living in India doesn’t seem so long anymore.
